Is it possible to model heat transfer through a film with a single averaged equation ?

In this talk, we will discuss the modelling of heat transfer across a falling film flow considering a passive atmosphere for which the Newton law of cooling is assumed to apply uniformly (constant Biot number). We raise the difficulty to model such a transfer at large Peclet numbers and propose a single average energy balance to model the heat transport processes within the falling film. The shortcomings and advantages of such a formulation are then discussed with respect to former works.
