Experiments on the "Coriolis" rotating plateform
french version
Some photos of the experiments carried out in february 2005 on the "Coriolis" rotating
plateform (LEGI, Grenoble). This large turntable, 13 m in diameter, contains 150 tons of water and is the biggest in the world.
The aim of these experiments is to characterize the influence of the Coriolis
force on the decay of an intially homogeneous and isotropic turbulence produced
by the translation of a grid, and to extend the range of parameters of the
FAST experiment.
Movies from the paper Moisy et al (2011).
Other movies: movie 1, movie 2, movie 3, movie 4.
